Deliver continuous, coordinated, comprehensive and business integrated security services and environmental health & safety services (EHS) at the BAT Global Business Services and Information Digital Technology Hub located in Kuala Lumpur (“KL HUB”). Ensure that security and EHS threats to personnel, assets and information are identified, evaluated and managed effectively and efficiently. Coordinate and facilitate compliance with the Business Continuity Management Standard by KL HUB based corporate functions and entities. Provide security research, analysis and project support to the Regional Security Team.


Business Security Accountabilities
  • Conduct security threat and risk assessments and, in consultation with Group Security, deploy appropriate mitigation measures to manage identified security risks to the KL HUB based corporate functions and entities.
  • Continuously review, implement and maintain effective security policies, procedures and practices at the KL HUB to ensure the security and protection of personnel, assets and information appropriate to the threat environment.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of effective access control and security processes at the KL HUB.
  • Provide security research, analysis and project support to the Central Security Team.
  • Plan and conduct security investigations and review security breaches at the KL HUB.
  • Coordinate the provision to the KL HUB based corporate functions and entities of security advice and support for external events.
  • Support internal stakeholders and KL HUB leadership team (as the case may be) in the provision of security related technical advice to new projects or other business initiatives at the KL HUB.
  • Manage contracted security services and resources at the KL HUB and review, evaluate and monitor performance and effectiveness.
  • Plan, prepare and track the Group Security Budget.
  • Engage closely with internal stakeholders and KL HUB leadership team and provide timely advice to ensure BCM compliance and coordinate and facilitate the completion of Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and effective Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
  • Support the development and conduct of associated BCM training and awareness programmes and facilitate testing and exercising of BCPs at the KL HUB.
  • Manage the database of the KL HUB BCPs and monitor BCM status.
  • Follow up and coordinate remedial action required at the KL HUB following incidents and exercises.
  • Provide support to the KL HUB crisis management process.
  • Provide direction to the contracted security services manager at the KL HUB.
  • Ensure that contracted security personnel deployed at the KL HUB are appropriately trained for their assigned responsibilities and are in possession of relevant licencing as required by law.
  • Act as first point of contact for all KL HUB security related issues and provide direction to the deployed contract security teams in managing incidents.
  • Provide input to the Security Risk Management (SRM) process at the KL HUB in accordance with the SRM Manual.
  • Monitor the security environment and take proactive measures to minimise the impact of assessed increased risks to BAT corporate entities at the KL HUB.
  • Ensure that effective security procedures are established and followed by the GH Document Centre.
  • Coordinate security awareness induction for new joiners and refresher programmes for existing employees at the KL HUB.
  • Carry out regular security reviews to ensure that security measures in place at GH & HEX are commensurate with the prevailing threat environment.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of security technology installed at the KL HUB.
  • Ensure implementation of the Group Information Security Standard by KL HUB based entities.
EHS Accountabilities
  • Track and monitor accident and injury rates in accordance to Occupational Safety & Health Act and BAT EHS requirements
  • Provide support for safety committee and work as liaison with Health, safety & environment related contractors
  • Follow up on safety issues in the KL HUB.
  • To prepare/ review Safety and Health SOP, S&H Project Plan, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control, and monitor the implementation and enforcement of safety issues in the KL HUB.
  • Prepare and deliver EHS training.
  • Lead and coordinate EHS Teams.
  • Maintain Health,Safety & Environment Framework elements assigned.
  • Prepare and submit Safety, Health & Environment Monthly Reports.
  • Attend training to maintain proficiency in EHS related issues.
  • Adhere to all company regulations punctuality, attire and discipline.
  • To ensure that the corporate entities in the KL HUB comply with Occupational Safety & Health Act (OSHA 1994) and its laws & regulations.
  • To liase with external third parties in relation to EHS matters including but not limited to NIOSH, DOSH, SOCSO and any other relevant agency.
  • In-house training/induction/briefing to employee/ visitor & Safety briefing/tool-box meeting for contractor
  • To be involved in company-wide activities (Fire Drill , Safety Committee ) etc.
  • Ensure that complete, accurate and fully referenced records are kept and maintained of all licenses, permits, inventories, measurements and data arising from the day-to-day management of all EHS matters affecting the KL Hub, to provide evidence of compliance or non-compliance to regulatory or company policy requirements.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the line manager and internal stakeholders from time to time.
  • Reporting to the Legal Counsel of the KL HUB and the Regional Security Manager.
  • Proactively communicate with and deliver security services to the KL HUB and assist in achieving their business objectives.
  • Maintain close working relationships with Human Resources, Audit, Risk and IT Security to ensure consistency of approach with regard to security.
  • Work with internal stakeholders and the KL HUB leadership team with a view to ensuring that security is integrated into the business and considered at the outset of projects and new business activities.
  • Establish effective liaison with relevant Kuala Lumpur based external stakeholders especially law enforcement organizations and other government agencies to obtain practical and material security assistance and support to the business.
  • Maintain close contact with security professionals from the security industry to ensure awareness of and adherence to industry best practice.
  • Develop relationships and liase on safety and environmental issues with Malaysian Government Agencies as well as regional operating companies to meet corporate and group objectives on safety and environmental issues.
  • Develop capacity to effectively deploy security resources to meet changing security threats and risks.
  • Benchmark KL HUB security processes against other multinational/global shared services companies Malaysia.
  • Regularly review the security training delivered to contract security services personnel and the front of house reception team at the KL HUB and coordinate additional training as required.
  • Identify and exploit developments in security technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency of deployed security systems in a cost effective way.
  • Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety OR Business and Information Security OR equivalent experience
Essential Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience of security management, business continuity management and EHS preferably within a multinational corporation and/or global shared services hub.
  • Minimum of 10 years of working experience
  • Experience in dealing with information and intelligence, interpreting security threats and risks and management of investigations.
  • Possess clear, concise and well-structured written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, management and delegation skills. Sound judgment, decision making, analytical and organisational skills.
  • Open minded attitude capable of seeking opportunities for innovation and increased efficiency.
  • Ability to develop a network of key stakeholders including law enforcement and security service providers in Kuala Lumpur.
  • Strong capability in the use of IT tools for security management and research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an excellent command of the English Language (both spoken and written).
